Helping you start, optimize and maintain
Your Online Marketing Campaign
Please Scroll Down for an archive of Questions and Answers! Multiple Personalities - When you need more than one social media profile... Three simple techniques to help you gather information which you can then use to create valuable content for your e-newsletter readers! Q: This all sounds great but I just don't know where to begin! What should I do first? A: It really depends on the type of help you want and the style of learning that works best for you. If you know that you want to start but need someone to help you, I would suggest a one on one session. The agenda will be based on your specific needs and we will input and upload your materials during the class. At the end of the session you will have a document started and the info and skills you need to publish it! If you are the type that wants someone to just make it happen for them, I can do that! Rather than take a class, you may want to consider a package where I get everything set up for you and then we have a one-on-one session to teach you how to maintain it all yourself. If you already have an account and maybe even have some experience with Constant Contact but haven’t been able to produce a document that you like, I would also suggest the one-on-one session. We can go into your account together and work on the documents to get you ready for publishing! Once you have figured out the type of help you need, please visit the calendar of classes page to see a listing of upcoming session and class dates or call 973.275.9497 or email to set up a date and time that works best for you! It's not that we will ever need fewer volunteers, we just want to help those 60 million Americans that do volunteer, use their time and money and effort in the most efficient way possible. And for those of you that want to help but just aren't sure of how, sharing your online knowledge and skills may be a great way for you to start! A: Often, this will happen when you have multiple windows/ programs running. I find that having my email open while working in Constant Contact is often a problem. As annoying as it is, you should try to close all other programs while in CC and see if that helps. That has definitely worked for me. April 2009:
Q: I have a blog and I am active on Twitter, do I need an e-newsletter/ e-zine as well?
A: I think that it depends on the message you are trying to share but most businesses can benefit from maintaining all three. The mode of transport - and that is all these choices are, different modes of transport for getting your info out into the world - depends on the type of business you have and the information you are broadcasting.
Some modes are better suited for your message than others. I have one client, a financial planner, that offers a tremendous amount of timely and valuable financial information and advice each month complete with references, charts and foot notes. This is obviously not a message suited to a blog post or 'tweet'.
Yet something like event and class promotion is most successful, I believe, when you use all three modes. A calendar of events, posted regularly and in advance makes someone aware of the event and allows them to register and plan to attend. A blog post can be used to discuss the event and increase interest and a 'tweet' is the perfect way to remind them that the date had arrived.
So I don't think that it is an 'either - or' proposition. All are useful tools which should be created and designed to work together to ensure that your message is broadcast and shared.

May 2009:
If you a really just thinking about it and want to learn more about how it works and what it involves, a group session for Beginners would probably be best. After that class, you will have all the information you will need to start an e-newsletter of your own.
July 2009:
Q: I have an e-newsletter but also want to have a presence on the social media sites, what should I do?
A: If you already have an account on various social networking sites, the quick answer is that you can post the fact that you have issued a new edition of your e-newsletter. This will give your 'followers' and 'friends' a way to see what you offer even if they don't subscribe. You can also post some of the content from your e-news in the form of tips. If you find it hard to update your accounts regularly, this is an easy way to make useful posts.
If you do not have any accounts set up and/or you would like to better understand how these sites can help you broadcast your message, please give me a call (973.275.9497) or send me an email LMD@LisaMarieDiasDesigns.com - I can help! I offer introductory sessions where we can look at the various sites and get an overview of how they work as well as strategizing sessions where we see how they can tie into and enrich your online marketing campaign.
August 2009:
Practical Hint re: Viewing "Printable Version"
When you are in Constant Contact's "Preview" mode, there is an option to 'View Printable Version'. Please note that you may see patterns in that preview version that will NOT be in your print copy. For example, the blue patterned background found in the online version of the August '09 E-Newsletter WILL be visible in the preview of the 'Printable Version' but will not, in fact, print. I am not quite sure why they bother to offer this option if it is not a true representation but hey, I just wanted to give you a heads up on it!
October 2009:
Q: Sometimes when I link my images to a website I get a bright blue box around it that I can't get rid of. Why does this happen and what can I do about it?
To avoid this, add your link info when you are initially inserting the image. To fix it after it has already happened, I would suggest deleting the image, saving the box, then going back in and inserting it again with the link properly added. And then save again.
Over 60 million Americans volunteered in 2008*, generously donating their time and energy. And my guess is that number does not include all the thousands of parent's that dedicate hundreds of hours to their children's schools and sports teams. If you are a volunteer of any type and already use Constant Contact, you may want to help your organization move their communications online as well.
Online materials can be used by any number of organizations to:

December 2009:
Q: Constant Contact keeps logging me out without warning! Why does this happen and what can I do about it?
And whether you do that or not, SAVE OFTEN! Really, even if the auto-save is on - save your work frequently! This way if you are logged out, at least your work will still be there when you log back in.
